How to use BusTag SG

Start with the two features you will use most.

Bus Stops helps you check nearby buses and prepare useful tags. Tags will help you compare those buses during your everyday journeys.

Bus Stops basics

Find a nearby stop, then choose how you use its buses.

Open Bus Stops from the bottom bar. Nearby stops appear on the map and in distance order. Tap the stop you want to use.

Open the stop you are about to use.

The list is centred on your current area. Each row shows the stop name, road, stop code and approximate distance.

  1. 1Tap a nearby stop in the distance-ordered list.
  2. 2Open Bus Stops from the bottom bar whenever you want to return to this view.
Arrival information refreshes automatically every 30 seconds. You normally do not need to refresh it yourself.

Everything important is on the stop screen.

  1. 1Check the next buses. The row shows the service number, three arrival estimates, crowd level and vehicle type when available.
  2. 2Tag one bus you use often. Tap the tag beside that service to attach one or more of your tags at this stop.
  3. 3Expand the service and add a note. Tap the service row or chevron, then write a short reminder that applies to this bus at this stop.
  4. 4Use this stop as a destination. The tag in the top-right opens a separate view for tagging several routes that arrive here.

Step 3

Tag the routes that bring you to this stop.

  1. 5Select a tag for the destination or purpose, such as To Bugis.
  2. 6Select the buses you use. The route preview shows how each selected service reaches this stop.
  3. 7Tap Save. These route tags can then help Tags show useful nearby boarding choices for this destination.

Tags basics

Choose a tag, then compare the buses carrying it.

When you choose a tag, you can compare buses carrying that tag across multiple nearby stops.

Open the tag for this journey.

  1. 1Choose a tag. Tap the destination or purpose you need, such as To Bugis.
  2. 2Organise your tags. Tap Edit Tags to change their names, colours, icons or order, or to remove tags you no longer need.
  3. 3Create a tag. Tap + when you want to add another destination or purpose.

Compare where to board.

  1. 4Compare nearby stops. Matching boarding choices are grouped by bus stop, with the approximate distance to each stop.
  2. 5Find a bus carrying this tag. Only the services you tagged for this place or purpose are shown.
  3. 6Compare the next arrivals. Check the arrival estimates, crowd level and vehicle type when available.

Information stored on your iPhone

BusTag SG stores your tags, tag assignments, route rules, service notes, app preferences and downloaded bus data on your device. This information is used only to provide the app's features.

Location

With your permission, the app uses your location to find and sort nearby bus stops. Precise location is processed on your device. It is not saved by the app and is not included in requests to LTA DataMall. You can deny or revoke permission and continue by searching or browsing the map manually.

Bus data requests

The app connects directly to LTA DataMall to download public bus-stop, route, service and live-arrival data. An arrival request includes the selected bus stop code. The service provider may receive technical network information such as an IP address.

Analytics, advertising and tracking

The app does not contain advertising or third-party analytics SDKs. The developer does not use the app to track you across apps or websites and does not sell personal information.

Deleting data

Use Reset Tags & Settings in Settings to remove your tags, notes, route rules and preferences. Deleting the app removes its locally stored data from your iPhone.

Data attribution

Contains information from LTA DataMall, made available under the Singapore Open Data Licence. LTA data may be delayed, incomplete, inaccurate or unavailable. BusTag SG is not endorsed by LTA or the Singapore Government.
